It is interesting to notice how long men lived before the Flood as compared to those after the Flood. Methuselah, (the oldest man to live) died near before the Flood, his name was a prophecy meaning, after him death would come. Abraham could have been greatly influenced by Shem and Noah. Therefore their accounts of both Creation and the Flood could have been first hand and very accurate and passed on directly to Abraham by Noah from Enos (Adams grandson). The Bible dates indicate that Abram was born before Noah died. It is difficult to know what the sky looked like after Creation; remember rainbows didn’t form until after the flood, and the earth was watered by the dew. You must have been able to see the Sun and the stars. In the early days of Creation there may not have been any great winds and erosion. It seems that it didn’t even rain. Before the Flood there was a great belt of water covering the earth which filtered out the ultra violet rays of the sun which causes man to age, this is why people live so long before the Flood. ” And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.” ( Genesis 1:7) During the Flood this belt of water fell upon the earth when the rains began, and the caverns of the deep were broken up, and God tilted the earth upon it’s axis, which causes seasons to begin. Thus we have Winter , Spring, Summer, and Fall. ” In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.” ( Genesis 7:11,12).
