DO YOU STILL SIN AFTER BEING SAVED ?

Someone said that they don’t sin any more since they were saved, and received Jesus Christ and were born again. Well, let me comment on this statement and make it as easy to understand as possible. The best way I know of in how to answer someone is to give them the Bible Scriptures. The Bible says; “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” (I John 3:9 ). “His seed remaineth in him”, is talking about the Word which is Jesus Christ. “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”(John 1:14 ).”The seed is the Word of God.”(Luke 8:11b ).We know that Jesus who is one in Spirit with God and the Holy Ghost being the ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD, and part of the Trinity does not sin. “And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him. “(John 8:29 ). Also the Bible says; “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15). “for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”(Hebrews 13:5b). Jesus will never leave you once you are saved, and Jesus in you does not sin and cannot sin. However our own spirits are also remaining in us and we still sin even though we are cleansed by the blood of Jesus. All of our sins have been washed away, at the time of salvation, but we will still have to answer to the Lord for any sins that are unconfessed to him, and that we have not asked Jesus to forgive us for which we have committed, after we are saved. Also if we have wronged someone else we need to ask them to forgive us too. Then Jesus will forgive us when we ask him. Someone once told me “ you always go around saying I’m sorry.” The reason I tell people I’m sorry and ask for their forgiveness, is so Jesus will forgive me, and I can be right with him, when I ask for his forgiveness. If people choose not to forgive you, then that is up to them and the Lord, at least you have done your part in asking. That is why the Bible says, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”(2 Corinthians 5:10).This verse is referring to the saved and the unsaved when it says “We must all appear”. The scripture also tells us, ” If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” (1 John 1:8-10).  “If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.”(Job 9:20).Some may say; “Well this is the Old Testament”. We are not under the bondage of keeping the law to attain Salvation, but that doesn’t mean that we throw out the whole Old Testament, Jesus said; “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.” (Matthew 5:17). “For I am the Lord, I change not; ”(Malachi 3:6a). “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.”(Hebrews 13:8). Jesus Christ is the WORD, and he is also the Old Testament as well as the New Testament. Beloved we have to rightly divide the WORD OF TRUTH, and take all the scriptures on a subject and examine them under the light of God’s Word, to get a clear understanding. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”(2 Timothy 2:15). “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” (Isaiah 8:20). Beloved the Lord wants you to get this right for your own sake, and so you can teach it to others. Here is a word of caution and warning from the Lord, Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”(Matthew 5:19). “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”(Galatians 1:8).This is very serious, and part of your basic foundation of Faith. The Lord wants us to Get It Right!

Say this prayer if you want to be saved: Jesus, I want to know you, and to live forever in Heaven, I know I have made mistakes and done bad things- and I am sorry. Please forgive me. I know I don’t deserve it, but I accept your love and I accept you as my Saviour. I  believed you died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead. Please come into my heart and life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and give me peace. Amen.
