TO TURN THE OTHER CHEEK

“but I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.”(Matthew 5:39). Lord help us, I don’t think I could be a turn the other cheek type of person. I am the type that would fight back, especially if my family and brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ were being attacked. I don’t think I could just sit there and turn the other cheek. It might be easier for me if it were just me being attacked, but to attack my loved ones is a different story for me. The Bible says; “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”(1 Corinthians 10:13). How ever I think there are more to these verses than meets the eye, this is the lesson Sargent York had to learn in World War 1. I know the Lord will give us strength and power for the hour and grace when the time comes, but when it is needed. I never can understand how those in Concentration Camps let such terrible atrocities happen to there family, and why they didn’t organize and fight back even though it was in most cases it would have been a losing cause. Better to fight for something than die for nothing. I think this doctrine about turning the other cheek needs to be prayed about more and studied about. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”(2 Timothy 2:15). “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”(Acts 17:11). The Bible talks about getting a good balance of the scriptures. “A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight.”(Proverbs 11:1). “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”(Jude 1:3). The Bible talks about contending for the faith and being a good shepherd, and how a good shepherd gives his life for the sheep. You can’t just let the devil win and hurt and destroy the work of God. “for a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again:”(Proverbs 24:16a). Jesus said; “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.  So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.”(Revelation 3:15-16).  “But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.  Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”(1Timothy 6:11-12). Remember Jesus made a whip and chased bad people out of the Temple. “and when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables;”(John 2:15). Beloved this could hardly be called turning the other cheek. There is a time and place for everything. “a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.”(Ecclesiastes 3:8). Lift high his Royal Banner it must not suffer loss, from victory unto to victory his army shall he lead. When Jesus came, born of a Virgin in Bethlehem. He came meek and humble riding on a donkey. But when he comes again he will be riding on a Mighty White Horse with the Army of Heaven following him to destroy the anti-christ armies at the Battle of Armagedón. The Blood will run to the Horses Bridles, and he will take over the World and rule it with Rod of Iron. Iron loving control for a thousand years and then continue on for eternity. Beloved we as Christian Believers have quite an amazing future to look forward to in Christ. “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”(Proverbs 4:18).

Say this prayer if you want to be saved: Jesus, I want to know you, and to live forever in Heaven, I know I have made mistakes and done bad things- and I am sorry. Please forgive me. I know I don’t deserve it, but I accept your love and I accept you as my Saviour. I believe you died on the cross for my sins, and rose from the dead. Please come into my heart and life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and give me peace. Amen
