“So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.” (Luke 17:10) . You mean after we have done all that Jesus commanded us and even laid down our lives for him and the Gospels sake everyday, that we should say we are unprofitable servants, and have done that which is our duty to do? Yes, that is what Jesus said. “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.” (Psalms 51:17). Livingston, the famous Missionary to Africa when he was found by Stanley said, I have never made a sacrifice , compared to what Jesus did for me. “Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.” (Luke 7:47). How much have you been forgiven? It will show by how much you love Jesus. “ For the love of Christ constraineth us;” (2 Corinthians 5:14a). “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.“ (Luke 9:23-24). ” I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35). You just can’t out give God, he will top your sacrifice every time. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” ( John 3:16). This was God’s part. Our part is (1 John 3:16) “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.” “But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.” ( 2 Corinthians 10:17). “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2).
A Sacrifice is something that hurts, or will cost you time, strength, money, and giving of yourself, doing something that your flesh does not want to do, but your Spirit does. Even if nobody sees what your doing, just remember that God, Jesus , and The Holy Spirit see you. “I will not offer unto the Lord that which has cost me nothing.”(2 Samuel 24:24) .
Say this prayer if you want to be saved: Jesus, I want to know you, and to live forever in Heaven, I know I have made mistakes and done bad things- and I am sorry. Please forgive me. I know I don’t deserve it, but I accept your love and I accept you as my Saviour. I believed you died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead. Please come into my heart and life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and give me peace. Amen.
