THE PIT OR YOUR CALLING

Yesterday I saw with my own eyes the actual visual fulfillment of this verse in Psalms 40:2 which says; “He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.”Our Son James was digging a deep pond with his new Excavator. As he was digging deeper and deeper into the pit, I was concerned that I was getting ready to see the fulfillment of another verse which is; “Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein:” (Proverbs 26:27a). He was literally rocking back and forth, and getting deeper and deeper in the mud. After desperate prayer the Lord sent Richard by with some long boards which he used to make a ramp and get out. I thought surely there must be some sort of lessons here for us all. The first thing that comes to me is when there is special work to be done we should get the experts to do it, and concentrate on doing what we do best especially if there is possible danger involved. “Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.” (1 Corinthians 7: 20). James is defiantly anointed to be a Sales Man and to make money and called to Preach the Gospel, as he commented on “Many Are Called but few are Chosen.” and he said “I choose to be chosen.” Here are some words of wisdom: “Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:” (Acts 6:2-5). In other words maybe he should be working with his clients and making money for his family and to pay his workers so he can concentrate on what is most important, and what he does best and is safest. “Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone. Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God: and thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do. Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: and let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee. If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace. So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said. And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.” (Exodus 18:18-25). Moses was trying to take care of all the problems great and small of the Children of Israel by himself until the Lord sent Jethro his Father-in-law with some good Godly Advise that probably saved his life and sanity. A good leader will never do something that he can get someone else to do, so he can do what he is suppose to be doing. I know it was fun operating the new equipment, but now hopefully the fun part is over, and the Lord delivered you out of the horrible pit and the miry clay. Remember Jesus said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30). So if your burden is not easy and light and you don’t have rest and peace, then maybe you have taken on to much that is not of the Lord and you need to delegate the responsibilities so you can go on to greater victories. I’m sure this message is for all of us.

Say this prayer if you want to be saved: Jesus, I want to know you, and to live forever in Heaven, I know I have made mistakes and done bad things- and I am sorry. Please forgive me. I know I don’t deserve it, but I accept your love and I accept you as my Saviour. I believe you died on the cross for my sins, and rose from the dead. Please come into my heart and life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and give me peace. Amen.
