An Easter Message

“E’-li E’-li, la’-ma sa-bach’-tha-ni?”.( Matthew 27:46). These words mean, My God, My God, why have you forsaken me? That is what Jesus cried out to God his Father when he was dying on the cross for your and my sins. He couldn’t understand why God his Father had turned his back on him and had forsaken him. He was so used to having his Father be so close to him all the time, and at this time of all times, God his Father wasn’t there for him. He had to go through it all alone by himself. He did it because he loved his Father and because he loved you! I have heard many preachers say that God turned his back on Jesus because God is perfect and he can not look upon sins, when Jesus took upon him the sins of the whole world. The fact is ,yes God is perfect, but  God looks upon our sins everyday. “The eyes of the Lord are in every place beholding the evil and the good.” ( Proverbs 15:3). We all deserve to be in prison and to go to hell, but The Lord had mercy upon us. Jesus could have called 10,000 Angels to destroy the world. I think God turned his back on, Jesus when he was dying on the cross, because it hurt him so much that he couldn’t take the pain of being there and watching what was happening to his Son for you and me.” For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have ever lasting life.” John 3:16. What do you think? We should celebrate Easter just as much if not more than Christmas, because Easter stands for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ after he died for our sins which is what he was born in this world for.
