I have heard it said “don’t pray for patience”. I guess because it’s one of the hardest lessons to learn. It seems that in life we are always waiting on something. In fact the whole of creation is waiting on the Lord to return and straighten this world out.Jesus said, “In your patience possess ye your souls.” (Luke 21: 19). Jesus was telling us that the condition of our soul depends upon our patience.”Let patience have her perfect work that ye may be perfect and entire wanting nothing.” (James 1:4). If we want to be perfect and entire we need to let patience have her perfect work in our lives. until we get to the point where we are just trusting the Lord and not wanting or worrying about anything. This would be a heavenly state of mind to be in wouldn’t it ? Lord help us. This is something we can pray for. We can sometimes be blessed by a little bit of this heavenly gift of patience. Maybe we should just ask the Lord for the gift of patience, and not ask the Lord to teach us patience. How do we get patience? We get patience through faith, and by “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you .”(1 Peter 5:7) Sometimes you have to literally throw all your cares and worries on the Lord. Jesus said, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart : and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy , and my burden is light.” ( Matthew 11:28-30). If your burden is too heavy, maybe you have taken too much upon yourself, or you haven’t come to Jesus to find his rest for your soul. (Isaiah 26:3) “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” There it is ,the answer to perfect peace. It is like the picture of the little bird perched on a branch by a raging waterfall just sitting there chirping away and trusting in the Lord. Waiting on the Lord is one of the hardest things to do. Yet it is what we have to do. Many times it seems like the whole world is in such a hurry to get no where. Have you ever heard that saying “Hurry up and wait” ? Sometimes it takes time for God to answer prayerWe need to get busy serving the Lord while we are waiting on him, and at the same time we are trusting him to answer our prayers.

Say this prayer if you want to be saved: Jesus, I want to know you, and to live forever in Heaven, I know I have made mistakes and done bad things- and I am sorry. Please forgive me. I know I don’t deserve it, but I accept your love and I accept you as my Saviour. Please come into my heart and life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and give me peace. Amen.
