THANKSGIVING DAY PRAYER

Following a resolution of Congress, President George Washington proclaimed Thursday the 26th of November 1789 a day of “public thanksgiving and  prayer” devoted to “the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be.” Reflecting American religious practice, Presidents and Congresses from the beginning of the republic have from time to time designated days of fasting and thanksgiving (the Thanksgiving holiday we continue to celebrate on the third Thursday of November was established by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War). In setting aside a day for Thanksgiving, Washington established a non-sectarian tone for these devotions and stressed political, moral, and intellectual blessings that make self-government possible, in addition to personal and national repentance. Although the First Amendment prevents Congress from establishing a religion or prohibiting its free exercise, Presidents, as well as Congress, have always recognized the American regard for sacred practices and beliefs. Thus, throughout American history, Presidents have offered non-sectarian prayers for the victory of the military and in the wake of catastrophes. Transcending passionate quarrels over the proper role of religion in politics, the Thanksgiving Proclamation reminds us how natural their relationship has been. While church and state are separate, religion and politics, in their American refinement, prop each other up.

Thanksgiving Proclamation

Issued by President George Washington, at the request of Congress, on October 3, 1789

By the President of the United States of America, a Proclamation. Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and—Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me “to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:” Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favor, able interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquillity, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted; for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us. And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations, and beseech Him to pardon our national and other trangressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shown kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally, to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best. Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.

THE TRUTH ABOUT HALLOWEEN

“Who in the world ever thought of the idea of walking around in weird costumes, trick or treating, and/or putting a carved-out pumpkin in your window?”  The Romans worshiped various gods and on October 31, a special feast was held in honor of Pomona, goddess of the fruit trees. Later, the Druids, an ancient order of Celtic priests in Britain, made this feast an even more extensive celebration by also honoring Samhain, lord of the dead. These Druids believed that on the night before November 1 (October 31) Samhain called together wicked souls or spirits which had been condemned to live in the bodies of animals during the year which had just transpired. Since they were afraid of these spirits, they chose October 31 as a day to sacrifice to their gods, hoping they would protect them. They really believed that on this day they were surrounded by strange spirits, ghosts, witches, fairies, and elves, who came out to hurt them. In addition to this, they also believed that cats were holy animals, as they considered them to represent people who lived formerly, and as punishment for evil deeds were reincarnated as a cat. All this explains why witches, ghosts, and cats are a part of Halloween today. People started dressing up in evil costumes, such as witches, demons, etc., in hopes that the evil spirits would think that they were with them and not harm them.

The custom of trick-or-treating and the use of “jack-o’-lanterns” comes from Ireland. Hundreds of years ago, Irish farmers went from house to house, begging for food, in the name of their ancient gods, to be used at the village Halloween celebration. They would promise good luck to those who gave them food, and made threats to those who refused to give. They simply told the people, “You treat me, or else I will trick you!” This is where the saying ” Trick or Treat” came from.
The apparently harmless lightened pumpkin face or “jack-o’-lantern” actually is an old Irish symbol of a damned soul. A man named Jack was supposed to be unable to enter heaven due to his miserliness, and unable to enter hell because he had played practical jokes on the devil. As a result, he was condemned to wander over the earth with his lantern until judgment day (i.e., the end of the world). The Irish were so afraid that they would receive an identical plight, that they began to hollow out pumpkins and place lighted candles inside to scare away evil spirits from their home.During the Middle Ages (about 600 years ago), the Roman Catholic Church at that time, decided to make the change-over from pagan religion to Christianity a bit easier, and therefore allowed the new converts to maintain some of their pagan feasts. It was agreed, however, that from now on they would be celebrated as “Christian” feasts. So instead of praying to their heathen gods, they would now pray to, and remember the deaths of saints. For this reason the church decided to call November 1 the “Day of All Saints,” and the mass to be celebrated on that day “A all hallow mass.” In consequence of this, the evening prior to this day was named, “All Hallowed Evening” which subsequently was abbreviated as “Halloween.” In spite of this effort to make October 31 a “holy evening,” all the old customs continued to be practiced, and made this evening anything BUT a holy evening!
Halloween was not celebrated in the United States until after 1900, and the first city to celebrate was Anoka, Minnesota in 1924. On October 31st, in the year 1517, Martin Luther gave the Bible to the common people. How can we as Christians who say we believe that Jesus Christ is the light of the world celebrate this day the same way that the devil has deceived the rest of the WORLD into doing? Why not turn it around and dress your kids up like Angels, and pass out Bible tracts door to door, or take the kids too some Christian events at churches. Jesus said, “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32). “Depart from evil and do good; and dwell forevermore.”(Psalm 37:27).
Say this prayer to be saved: Jesus, I want to know you, and to live forever in Heaven, I know I have made mistakes and done bad things- and I am sorry. Please forgive me. I know I don’t deserve it, but I accept your love and I accept you as my Saviour. I believe you died on the cross for my sins ,and rose from the dead. Please come into my heart and life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and give me peace. Amen.

REAL FREEDOM

Thank God for the good. Today, July 4 th, the day we celebrate our freedoms. Let us thank the Lord for all the good things we have and all our blessings and freedoms we still have. Most of the world wants to live here. America is still a bastion of freedom to the world even though the forces of darkness are trying everything they can to erode  and take away our freedoms. America keeps the rest of the world from falling back into chaos and the dark ages. So thank God for all the Christians here who have faith in Jesus Christ and want to do the right things. Thank God for the Christian leaders in our Government. Let us all remember them in prayer, and those who have sacrificed so much to bring us our freedoms. Most of all let us thank Jesus who died for us so that we can be free forever. In many countries there is no freedom to worship God as you choose. In some countries you could be imprisoned, tortured, and even killed for worshiping the Lord, or not worshiping their God. That is why our forefathers came over here to America in the first place, for religious freedom. “And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32). “If the Son therefore shall make you free ye shall be free indeed.” (John 8: 36). You can’t really experience freedom until you know Jesus Christ personally and ask him into your heart.  “THERE is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:1,2). “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” ( II Corinthians 3:17). In Old Testament  times when a slave owner would set his slave free out of love for them, the slave would many times wear a gold ring on their ear as a symbol of a love slave, which meant that even though they were free, they chose to continue serving their master out of love. One thing I can tell you, is you’ve got to be free ! Don’t let any thing, or any body, or any group , or denomination keep you from burning free in Jesus Christ! Don’t put your light under a bushel of any kind. Let your light shine and burn free for Jesus!

REAL MOTHERS

JerusalemJerusalemthou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!” (Matthew 23:37). Jesus used this saying comparing himself as a mother hen who wants to gather her baby chickens under her wings to love and care and protect them, but the people would not. Jesus also said;  “There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him. And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee. And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren? And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.” (Mark 3:31-35). The Bible also says to; Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” (Exodus 20:12). “Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)  that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.”( Ephesians 6:2,3). A real mother is someone who loves the Lord and does the will of God, and not always the one who bares you. Now days it is getting rare to find a mother who even wants to have children and not kill them and abort them as so many millions have done. I can’t think of anything that could make God more angry than that, except rejection of Jesus Christ, God’s Only Begotten Son, whom he sent to die for all the sins of the world. The devil is always trying to kill God’s children, even before they are born, to keep them from doing what God wants them to do with their lives. And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.” (Mark 9:42). “But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.” (Luke 18:16). “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5). Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels (Spirit) do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 18:10). To not have children is a shameful sin in the eyes of God.Like  Nun’s and Priests. Unless you can not have children due to physical complications, but there are plenty of children out there that need to be adopted. But the good news is, there is Mercy and Forgiveness to be found through Jesus Christ, God’s Only Begotten Son! Real Mothers care more about their children than themselves. “Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.  And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house. And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house. And this woman’s child died in the night; because she overlaid it. And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom. And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear. And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king. Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living. And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king. And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other. Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it. Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof. And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.” (1 Kings 3:16-28). Since we are in the End Times, and to rightly divide the Word of Truth, here is the other side of the coin. Jesus said, And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!” (Matthew 24:19). But this does not mean to abort them once they are conceived. God puts the spirit of the baby into the baby at the moment of conception. There is a big difference between preventing a baby being conceived and killing a baby after conception, by abortion or using some pill or ungodly means. You had better pray and make sure you are in the will of God about what ever decision you make as to having children or prevent them. But when I see some pregnant women, they just seem to shine with happiness because they know that they are fulfilling their God given destiny to have children. If you want to be a Godly woman that pleases the Lord, then here are some verses for you. “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her,so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” (Proverbs 31:10-31)So a Real Mother is a person who loves Jesus and believes it is her calling to bare, and raise children, and teach them all about Jesus Christ and the Bible.“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6). Amen? Yes! Amen!

Say this prayer if you want to be saved: Jesus, I want to know you, and to live forever in Heaven, I know I have made mistakes and done bad things- and I am sorry. Please forgive me. I know I don’t deserve it, but I accept your love and I accept you as my Saviour. I believed you died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead. Please come into my heart and life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and give me peace. Amen.

HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY !!!

“E’-li E’-li, la’-ma sa-bach’-tha-ni”? (Matthew 27:46). These words mean, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?” That is what Jesus cried out to God his Father when he was dying on the cross for your and my sins. He couldn’t understand why God his Father had turned his back on him and had forsaken him. He was so used to having his Father be so close to him all the time, and at this time of all times, God his Father wasn’t there for him. He had to go through it all alone by himself. He did it because he loved his Father and because he loved you! I have heard many preachers say that God turned his back on Jesus because God is perfect and he can not look upon sins, when Jesus took upon him the sins of the whole world. The fact is ,yes God is perfect, but  God looks upon our sins everyday. “The eyes of the Lord are in every place beholding the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3). We all deserve to be in prison and to go to hell, but The Lord had mercy upon us. Jesus could have called 10,000 Angels to destroy the world. I think God turned his back on, Jesus when he was dying on the cross, because it hurt him so much that he couldn’t take the pain of being there and watching what was happening to his Son for you and me. I can’t even imagine such love. Could you give your Son to die for a bunch evil wicked people who hate you, and are doing evil things? That is what God did for you and me. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have ever lasting life.” (John 3:16). What do you think? We should celebrate Easter just as much if not more than Christmas, because Easter stands for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ after he died for our sins which is what he was born into this world for. How about if we say Happy Resurrection Day instead of saying Happy Easter which  comes from the ancient Babylonians who believe a giant egg fell from heaven and  hatched the goddess Astarte (the goddess of fertility) by the Euphrates  river, hence Easter and the eggs.Today is the day that we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This really is the Holiest day of all for all Christian believers to rejoice in and be happy and thankful, even more important than Christmas! Today Jesus conquered death and the grave and through faith in him we can too. Jesus said, I am the resurrection and the life. He that believes in me shall never perish! (John 11:25,26). Today is a good day to have communion and have a fresh start with the Lord, and a clean heart ! Today is a good day for us all to have a resurrection in our own lives and hearts and with each other and in our relationship with Jesus and each other, Amen? So celebrate and have a “Jubilee” today. May God Bless You ! ! !

Amen.

A CHRISTMAS MESSAGE

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14). Immanuel means “God with us”. Jesus was born of a virgin: (Mary). “And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:26-35). “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old,  from everlasting.” (Micah 5:2). The world had to wait over 4,157 years (see the “Age of The Earth Chart” in this website) for the Messiah to be born. Many Scholars believe that Jesus was born in three B.C. You may wonder how people were saved before Jesus was born. They were saved the same way we are saved now, by Grace. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8,9). “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.” (Genesis 6:8). All they had to do was believe on the Messiah that was to come, as promised in the scriptures and realized they needed God and couldn’t save themselves, they came to know Jesus through the spirit. “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,” (Titus 2:11). When the Old Testament Saints died, most went to a place called Paradise, which was located inside the earth. Remember Jesus told the thief next to him on the cross, “to day shalt thou be with me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:43) Jesus told his disciples, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:1-3). Heaven is still being prepared right now at this time. “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21). Your Mansion or Heavenly home is under construction right now. Are you sending up enough materials by your work for the Lord, and winning souls? If we only realized what a priceless privilege, and  opportunity we have in this life time to prepare our eternal home. Someday you will actually see your heavenly abode. Christmas is a time to celebrate. It is a joyous happy time, when Jesus left heaven and came to earth to be born of a virgin and show us God’s love, by ultimately dying on the cross for our sins and rising from the dead three days later. Another really happy time that we should celebrate also is the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, which we should call Happy Resurrection Day. In fact we as Christian believers can celebrate Jesus’ birth and crucifixion, and resurrection everyday! You may ask, why should we celebrate the death of Jesus Christ? It is because at this time all of our sins where washed away by the Blood of Jesus Christ, for all who have faith in him. How would you feel if on your birthday, everyone gave presents to each other, and not to you? Since it is the birthday of Jesus Christ that we are Celebrating, why not give him the gift that he wants the most from you? Your heart and your love, and help the Missionaries, because in so doing we are giving as unto the Lord. “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me”. (Matthew 25:40).  Praise the Lord, Amen?
